The SAQ modernizes workforce planning for 5,500 employees with SIGMA-HR

The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) has taken a major step forward by replacing its scheduling and personnel management solution with SIGMA-HR's Workforce Labour Optimization software. Faced with logistical challenges and complex collective agreements, the SAQ has found in SIGMA-HR a major ally in the evolution of its digital transformation of the employee experience.

An intelligent solution for an imperative transformation

“The old scheduling and assignment management system, developed in-house, had become obsolete over time. We were looking for a modern, forward-thinking alternative,” explains Sylvain Tremblay, Human Resources Director at the SAQ. Our objective was to find a flexible solution that could be aligned with our collective agreements. At the same time, we wanted to make our practices more scalable, to respond effectively to the challenges of flexible working hours.”

It was in this context that SIGMA-HR's Workforce Labour Optimization came into play. “It was one of the few solutions that could, on its own, meet all our workforce planning needs without adding other systems for our branch network,” says Tremblay.

Thanks to the Collaborative Intelligent Planning module, equipped with an intelligent algorithm, the SAQ was able to respect the collective agreement, which included new rules that the old solution could not support for its workforce planning management:

Simple and precise workforce planning

The flexibility of the SIGMA-HR solution enabled the SAQ to adjust the system to its specific and complex needs, allowing some autonomy in managing modifications.

Implementing the Workforce Labour Optimization software successfully met the challenges related to weekly schedules, replacements, overtime, and collective agreement constraints. All this for 5,500 employees in 404 branches.

Today, thousands of employees use the Workforce Labour Optimization module daily. It is the heart of intelligent schedule management through the automation of processes and the centralization of data. “Managers and employees now benefit from a robust, modern system that facilitates schedule management,” says Sylvain Tremblay.

“No one would go back!”

The implementation of the Workforce Labour Optimization module has improved the experience of employees and managers at the SAQ. Mr. Tremblay explains, “We are now able to respect our work contracts with our branch network employees regarding time management, scheduling, and assignment rules."

Implementing the Collaborative Intelligent Planning module has also made the digital employee experience more enjoyable.

“No one at the SAQ would go back! Everyone appreciates the new solution,” enthuses the Human Resources Director.

This collaboration with SIGMA-HR marks the beginning of a new era for the SAQ, which now benefits from a scalable market solution for its workforce planning.

A successful deployment!

For the SAQ, the main challenge of the deployment laid in the ability to respect critical deployment periods.

"The SIGMA-HR teams made all the necessary efforts, and we managed to deliver during the targeted periods. It's exceptional to see such a smooth deployment, especially for a project affecting the work schedules of 5,500 people. No major issues were encountered. Everything went smoothly."

The guidance and support provided by SIGMA-HR during deployment and stabilization were key elements in the success of this project. “The SIGMA-HR team offers a good service model, always providing us with appropriate guidance and support. They really helped make this deployment a success,” concludes the SAQ's HR Director.
